About Me
Here’s the long story about my journey to becoming a doctor. I’ve had many doubts along the way, to be completely honest.
As much as I’d love to say that I always knew I wanted to be a doctor since I was a kid, that’s not the case. Even through college, it wasn’t until the end of my sophomore or even the beginning of junior year when I started the pre-med path.
I had always loved problem-solving, physics, math, and so I decided to pursue Biomedical Engineering and then on top of that tack on pre-med courses. Undergrad was extremely rigorous, but I followed the traditional path (at least until a certain point).
Just for some context, I come from an immigrant family and am a first-generation college student. So, I actually spent a lot of time during college balancing engineering classes, pre-med requirements, and at one point 5 part-time jobs.
During the end of my junior year, I started eagerly working on the medical school application process. For some odd reason, I loved doing applications at that time. I had only taken the MCAT once, at this point. Turns out my hard work paid off, I ended up with three interviews and one acceptance.
But something didn’t feel right. At that time, making the decision to DECLINE a medical school acceptance felt like life or death. Yet, I am eternally grateful for the risk I took in pursuing a Fulbright Scholarship abroad.
For the past three (gap) years, I have been living abroad in Warsaw, Poland, and Paris, France. I have had the chance to travel to 13+ countries, experiencing life from a different perspective than I could have ever even imagined.
So I’m here to share with everyone who may have doubts, who may fear to take a risk or to make a life-changing decision. You’re going to make it.
Let’s ignite the spark within you.
